Equipment

  • double board / Ski : The most classic skiing sport, there is a board for each left and right foot. It is similar to in-line skating, skating and other sports. When skating, you move forward. Since both feet can move independently, it is relatively easy to get started.
  • veneer / snowboard : Similar to board sports such as skateboarding and surfing, Both feet stand on a board and move sideways. However, since both feet are tied to the same board, it is relatively difficult to balance at first.
  • Binding : Available on double boards and single boards, it is a device that fixes snowshoes to the board.
  • Ski pole/pole : Usually used in skiing, it can help establish the rhythm and center of gravity of skiing.
  • Snow goggles/goggles : Special goggles for skiing, which protect the glasses from ultraviolet rays and wind and snow damage. They usually have an anti-fog system suitable for low temperatures.
  • Snow skirt : prevents snow from running into the snow suit, usually on the hem of the jacket and the inside of the pants.
  • Foot ropes : Used to connect skis and snowshoes to prevent the skis from sliding away when removing the skis. They are usually used by novices or cross-country skiers.

Snow resort

  • Snow ticket/cable car ticket : Snow ticket and cable car ticket are actually the same thing, they both refer to cable car usage tickets. Ski resorts are not like theme parks. You do not need to buy admission tickets; Use cable car tickets, and ski tickets are usually divided into several types, one-day tickets, multiple-time tickets, and multi-day tickets. You can buy the appropriate ticket type according to your needs.
  • Cable car - chairlift/box type gondola : If you want to ski at the ski resort, you need to take a cable car and let the cable car take you up the mountain. Cable cars are usually divided into two types, one is the box type cable car - gondola, which is the one in Maokong and Sun Moon Lake.   • Snow slope level - Green Line / Red Line / Blue Line /Black Line/Double Black Line: Refers to the difficulty of the snow trail. According to the difficulty, the order is green- > red- > blue- >black-> double black . In Japan Common ski resorts include Three colors: green , red and black.
  • Ski in ski out : means that the accommodation is right next to the ski resort. Once you leave the accommodation, it is the ski resort and you can ski in and out.
  • Night skiing/night skiing : It is night skiing. Some ski resorts will open night skiing time after the sun goes down. Most of them require additional tickets, but some ski resorts can ski until night with one ticket.
  • Season Pass : A lift ticket that can be used for an entire snow season.

Taxiing

  • Heel side : refers to the steel edge on the heel side. This steel edge is used when gliding, which means that it will face down the mountain at this time.
  • Toe side : refers to the steel edge on the toe side. This steel edge is used when gliding, which means that it will face the top of the mountain at this time.
  • Wedge/Wedge : A double-board skating method where the front ends of the two boards are brought together and the back ends are separated to control the speed.
